Can a faulty harness to the air pump cause not to start?
I have a '97 trans am and out of nowhere the car will just not start. Then I took it in to dealer and they said the opti wire to the air pump was ripped up and causeing arking on the maf sensor. Then they said for the new harness was $250 for part. I told them to shove it and drove the car home cause he said I could just disconnet it but it would not really start cold. Then next night started right up and drove fine but then later died. Could this somehow not make my car able to start. Even tried the next day in the dead of heat with taking out resistor and unplugging and with everthing plugged back in. Need help ASAP

Sorry about the weird post I was also using my brothers account. Anyway they said there was a bare wire and it was like a rat or something got under it and started chewing it up. Basically from what the dealer told me he said I had to have the air pump working or else it wouldn't start cold. Then about 6 months ago at a different dealer I took my car in to see why my service engine light was on and he said the air pump wasnt working but my car would run fine and I never had trouble with it then. The car will turnover but wont fully start and he said i had the correct fuel pressure going through so the only thing I can think is something electrical.
