Can a Fuel Pressure line be spliced?

I just found that the pressure line on my fuel line is leaking. Can it be spliced? It looks like it got hot on the part that sticks out of the manifold that goes to the Smog pump (EGR valve?). Its right where the covering is split to allow the third line out to go across the engine. My question is can the pressure line be spliced? I've got a new one coming from GM on Friday morning anyways.

I wouldn't take a chance. A tiny leak and it falls right on the hot exhaust manifold.

That's what I figured...I'm not about to take the risk. I'd rather wait three days then to have my car burn to the ground.

I changed the water pump (Oh my god that was hell in the driveway) and then found the fuel line problem as I was burping the air bubbles out of the radiator lines.

Are those return and pressure lines hard to change? Anyone done them? I have the actual GM Tech manuals for the 97 F-bodys but they make it seem too easy. I'd like to hear from a person thats done it in the real world.

Make sure the fuel line bundle is properly supported. There should be a circular clip, mounted to the cover on the throttle linkage. That's what holds the lines far enough away frmo the AIR/exhaust piping to prevent the lines from melting. The plastic support clip breaks off, and the lines end up too close to the exhaust.
