Can I start the engine without a trans attached?

Hey guys, as it states. I have 30 days of warrenty on the engine I snagged from the bone yard. Will I be able to start it up and let it run and mildly rev it a bit to make sure its solid without a trans attached if I cant get ahold of one in time?

Yes you can but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's absolutely necessary. It'll jump around alot.

Be forewarned....Its gonna sit at a crazy angle wit no trans for support. The engine will also rev up very fast with no clutch or converter attached.

It'll be fine. Will surge a bit and might run a little rough depending on how close your O2s are from the open air.

should be fine, if it is in the car, i would prop the motor up with some 4x4's or something so it sits like there is a tranny in the car, my thinking is so that you dont stress the motor mounts too bad. i have started motors without trannys before, they just rev really fast. i wouldnt recomend revving the ***** out of it like previously stated
