Can someone explain/review my cam?
So, I've had a custom grind from Cam Motion in the car for a while. It was first step away from the old hotcam. Cams are still mysterious to me so I don't really know what I've got. All I know is that it's got more lift than the hotcam but the other numbers are mostly greek to me. I know some can be better for N/A, N20, FI but I don't understand what I really ended up getting. I have no complaints with the cam at all. Just want to know more. Would you classify it as similar to another off the shelf cam like an 847, 502, etc...
When I odered it, I supplied the guys at Cam Motion a flow sheet for my heads and basically told them everything about the rest of my combo. Below is what I have....and it's all I have. What can you tell me about it?
Grind: X2244-12+4
Duration:
Intake: 227
Exhaust: 227
Lift:
Intake: 556
Exhaust: 556
Lobe Center: 112
Centerline: 108
thanks

It's a single profile, 227* duration, 0.556" lift (assuming 1.6 rockers), on a 112 LSA. The single pattern surprises me, but everything else puts it at a "mild" size cam. It's not a ton bigger, on paper, than the CC305. It should have a bit more chop than the 305 and similar performance.

Single pattern refers to using only one lobe design for both intake and exhaust. In a LT1 or previous smallblock Chevys more exhaust duration is typically used because the heads tend to be stronger on the intake side than exhaust.
