can you see a bent push rod by removing the valve cover
i just found out that my car has a weak cylinder, so i'm doin a compression test on it next week and the mechanic told me that it could be a bent push rod or a broken spring. if this is the case can i see a bent push rod by removing the valve covers?
also does anyone know how much compression tests are? and how much it costs to replace a bent push rod?
thanks for the help.

wait a min here? In your sig it says you have a 396 correct? And your asking if you can see a bent pushrod with the covers off? I m not trying to be a ******* thats just confusing.Well to check if a rod is bent you usually take them out and roll them on a level surface(glass usually) . But I highly doubt a bent pushrod is your problem. hope that helped and compresion test usually cost around 100-180 depending where you go.

I think there is supposed to be less than 15% leak down variation between each cylinder.
Oh, the only way you're going to see a bent push rod by just removing the valve covers will be if it's pretzel shaped.

when i bought this car it came wiht the motor in it built from nu-tek and it only has about 8K miles on the whole set-up. the guy told me he never had any problems with the car ever and i guess i'm havin some bad luck with it. oh well the car is well worth what i paid for it, and i 'm totally happy with it. just cuz i own the car doesn' t mean i know everything about it.
