Very interesting: When I was using REV springs--good for 550 lift with my baby cam (552 ex lift). Anyway, I lost 2 SA rockers off the tips and damn near swollowed a valve. Switched to the 99893 springs for more control and went back to stock on my PRs for better geometry. Been good to go, so far.

Perhaps my Crower SA/RRs work better with those springs than e.g. crain RRs. Anyone have an opinion on that?

My Crower SA RRs look to have about a 1/16" guide, so I'd need at least that much valve stem to work with. That doesn't seem like much. Seems that if the retainers that come with that kit don't provide even that little exposure of the valve stem, that you would indeed need to go with non-sa RRs or different retainers.

I guess I need to take another look next time remove a cover.

Ok, so these work

But not these.

Correct?

Honestly, I cant afford to buy the Pac 1518s riight now since this whole rebuild was unexpected and after everything I've bought so far, I'm kinda running out of cash here.

you might look into th PAC 1218 bee hive springs and other parts listed. Should be about $100 less than the 1518 springs.

Neither of the Patriots will work with SA rockers. They have the same retainer/lock set up on both sets of springs and just use a different springs.

I would get PAC 1218 springs, Comp 795 retainers, 611 locks and 4705 locators as the next best thing and a set up that WILL work with SA rockers.

The Crane spring is a 99893 but by the time you buy the springs along with the retainers, locks and locators, you will probably be close to bee hive $$$.

The Crane 10308-1 kits will NOT work with SA rockers either. You would need a different retainer/lock set up for these to work.

Anyone know the part numbers and where to buy these? Also what locks, retainers, and seats to use with these springs? Estimate of total cost of the spring kit? Do these springs need to be shimmed at all?

EDIT: I will be running a 230/238 .575/.575 110 cam with stock heads. Maybe shifting at ~6500. Thanks.
