Question cant mash the pedal?

hey there guys i have a 94 z a4 and i was on the way home a couple of days ago and i mashed my gas and it pulled hard like the norm. but as soon as i hit 4k rpm my engine just kept revin..? car drives great and no hard shifting, smooth shifts in this car but for some reason it wont pull past 4k without revin...the car is in need of a tranny flush do u think that will help? car has 108k on it...any feedback will be helpfull...thanks guys

So once it hits 4K it stops making power and just revs the motor?

Did you consider the possibility that your tranny is slipping?

Why do you say it it's in need of a tranny flush but you have trouble believing it's got a tranny problem?

Do you know what the line pressure is?

Do you know if the filter has ever been cleaned or replaced?

Don't be surprised when the pan comes off (and it should instead of a dipstick tube flush and fill) that the pan has metal filings in it.

Your description of the problem is not very clear. At 4,000 RPM it "just kept revvin". What does that mean? 1) It kept on pulling the car forward, with increasing RPM producing a proportional increasing in MPH (would sound kind of normal)..... 2) It kept accelerating the car, but it was rough and choppy..... or 3) the engine continued to increase RPM, but the car stopped accelerating (MPH did not increase)?

If it was as described in 3), your tranny is slipping. No one can tell you without looking at the tranny if a "flush" will fix it. If its the tranny, I'll move this to the "Drivetrain" forum, since their are several very knowledgable people who post there.
