Re: Canton Fabbed Valve Cover Install ?'s
I don't have them with me but I can get some. The covers are actually back off now for some diagnosis. I found that the passenger side front rocker arm trunnion had left some witness marks on the step part of the cover. So I got a ball peen hammer and a Dremel and did a little tweaking. Hopefully that was causing my knock counts, but I don't think it was.
There's enough room to remove them under the cowl. And the transmission filler tube had to be bent a little bit to clear the cover, which of course I crimped when trying to bend it. Flexible filler tube fixed that though. I'll get pics of that too. I mounted it right above the intake manifold under the cowl.

I just received my pair of Canton Valve covers today and I'm having issues with the CC Pro Magnum rockers rubbing on the passenger side instep. Here are some pics.
In this picture you can see where the rocker arm rubs against the valve cover. I also noticed the locating tab right above it is bent too far away from the head so I will have to bend it a little to get it to settle.
You can see in this pic where it was rubbing on the rocker arm.
Here is a crappy picture of the valve covers on the motor.
And from the back.

I'm slapping stuff on to the motor and as I work... little things pop up that need to be tweaked. So its eating up a lot of time. Hopefully the motor will be in the car and running by Christmas!

Jeff,
I just started getting all of this together and Im having the same issues that you came across. What did you end up doing about the length of the serpentine belt? I also had problems with the power steering pump hardlines contacting the bottom of the alternator and the corner of the valve cover. I believe if I rotate the hardline towards the engine I could solve this matter. I'll post pictures later on tonight.

Pictures of the power steering pump interference:
The results after I slipped on a pipe and bent/rotated the hardline.
Now here is the interference with the alternator and the Canton Valve covers.

Looking good -B even though it's one small problem after another. What are you going to do about the alternator and that clearance issue?
Damn did you chrome that yourself or that polish? I just noticed that. Looking damn good man!

As for the chrome.... I tried polishing just the water pump neck for about 15 minutes and gave up. Just too damn hard without the right tools so I took it to a local plating shop and they charged me $275 to do the alternator shells, accessory bracket, and water pump. Now that the main parts are chromed.... all of the bolts and misc. items that aren't chromed stick out like sore thumb... so I'm going to have get those chromed also.
