No clue. At least 30k/2.5 years (how long I've owned it). More than likely tons more than that.

is your car bucking bad? we just tore apart the front end, i have a leaky gasket in my time chain cover, and the oil is just caked all over my opti, and water pump, it smelt like rotten a**!!! well my cap and rotor, just fell apart, and it was leaking into my cap. you might want to check out that system, have you checked your timing??

Damn, the PCM is pulling fuel like crazy! No doubt that's your poor running right there, a lean condition. At least, that would seem to explain it. What brand of O2 did you buy? If it's Bosch, then you need to order some GM units from Dal or whoever and get back to us. A simpler test would be to unplug them like someone was saying and drive around for a bit.

Just drive around with o2s unplugged, same problems. I have noticed that when I stop the car it starts hissing for a bit and the car gets less jerky and stumbly but ultimately comes back.

If that hiss is coming from toward the front, it's probably the same thing mine is doing after if starts missing. It appears to be the air going into the IAC. If you haven't checked your IAC and or cleaned it, it may be worth a try.

Mine can make that noise but it just seems to be part of the PCM's efforts trying to keep the car alive. In my case I've now ordered an Opti and started disassembly, as that is what I believe is causing my miss. Hopefully I'm right. We'll find out in a few days.

Thanks, Ill check my IAC. Also, how do I check my timing. If my coolant temp is 227, shouldnt my fans be on? The scan says both are off. Relation?

I'm not sure about a timing check on these cars. Hopefully someone will come along and educate us on that.

As far as the fans, stock for 93 and 94 is to turn on Fan 1 (driver side) at 226 and Fan 2 if it gets to 235. As for if it's related, not sure but it definately needs to be looked in to. Easy way to see that the fan itself works is to turn on the A/C, that should start Fan 1 cycling on and off.

cant you use a timing light on the LT1?

I've never seen any timing marks anywhere.

Had a little breakthrough today if you could call it that. Driving the can and monitoring different stats and all of a sudden it does the normal nose dive in performance, bucking, hesitating, the works. But now, shes throwing code 36, fault optical sensor reading. Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new opti or is there something else I can do, look for?

I think at that point it's just a matter of double checking the Opti harness for damage or corrosion. Beyond that, sure looks like Opti time.

Re: Car bogs, stumbles, misses, but only when hot.

well the thing is, alot of us have already replaced the OPTI, i just replaced mine 12K ago...if this isnt the O2 Sensor, it has to be some type of sensor if it is sending codes...the Ignition module doesnt fix it....maybe it is the O2, if the 02 is telling it to send more fuel, that means that the engine is Fouling plugs, causing the opti to send a code...did you replace your O2's MRBoss429x ?? if so, i recommend checking your harness like JP94Z said....

Kind of late and trying to learn more about an LT1 motor's electrical system. So take this for what it's worth ....

That description doesn't sound like an Opti-spark code, but more like a trigger code for a cam position or crank position sensor firing against a reluctor wheel.
