93 Z28 with 130K on the clock. The fuel filter is about 1yr/10K miles old. The pump has not been changed (that I know of). 3 times in the last 2 weeks my car has just died while driving it. There is no sputter or anything. It will then just crank and not start. Sometimes the pump will prime and other times it won't. If I bleed the fuel pressure off the rails and wait about 5 minutes the car will start right up. Whats your thoughts? What can I check?


Here are some numbers if this helps.
Fuel pressure stabilizes (idle) @ 38PSI
WOT @ 44PSI
directly after shutting down I put the key to on and the pump did not prime with a pressure of 35 PSI sitting there. It started up perfectly after I went to "start".

 

Next time it doesn't start, try banging on the bottom of the tank while someone cranks it over. If it starts, you know what to do.
