Car going into Closed Loop?

I did the OBDI conversion and i hooked up my laptop to the car using a AKMcables.com cable. I ran the car for like 30 minutes and i realized that the closed loop light on the status bits tab doesn't go out. I turned the car off stopped the PCM interaction, started the car and then started the freescan again. The closed loop light was off. After about 15 minutes it went on again. It shows the Coolant Temperature to be at 88* C. Is this normal? The car does seem to run different and i never noticed this until i hooked this thing up. It has more power just like it would when the car is just started for the first time in the morning.

Re: Car going into Closed Loop?

Wait so i must be confused. I thought closed loop meant that the car is ignoring readings from the O2 Sensors. So its the opposite?

Right, you are backwards. Open loop at startup - O2s ignored. Closed loop when engine is warmed up - O2s used.

Re: Car going into Closed Loop?

An o2 sensor causes the ecm to go into closed loop at about 500 degrees.
