Car just quit
This thing is driving me crazy. I was just driving down the street today and the car just shut off for no reason. I manage to get it started again then approx 1/4 mile later it cut off again. I could not get it re-started and had to tow it home.
I sprayed some starter fluid in the t-body and it started then died again. Is this the fuel pump or something else ? Also I need the part # for the GM fuel pump.
My vehicle is a 95 Z with a hotcam and pacesetter headers, 2500 stall and 3:42's in the rear.

People are going to tell you to check fuel pressure, search up on that. Is the start fluid really helping or is it coincidence? You could have a fried keep spraying a bit into the tb and see if the motor stays goen for a bit. Where a glove/jacket in case it backfires. Sounds like an opti initially.

If you take the ICM and Coil to your local AZ or Advance Auto they can test it to see if it's bad. Def sounds like an ICM issue as the Opti would be more sporaddic typically and usually would not just quit without some symptoms.

Fuel, air and spark...witch one are you missing?
Check fuel presure with a gauge that you can buy at any parts store.
Check spark at the coil and the plug wires.
Air is little more detailed, check out the above first then post back.

My car was doing the exact same thing last week. I replaced the opti and a MSD one and it runs like new.
More than likely your cap has corrosion built up in it.
Try replacing your distributor or, if you are short on money, take a look at your cap.
It doesn't matter if it's new or not, I found that it can actually take less than 3,000 miles to make an optio-spark distributor go back. That's what happened to me...
