Unhappy car over heating, fans wont turn on

okay so the car was overheating a short while ago, changed the thermostat, ran fine for a bit then it over heated again, turns out now the fans werent turning on, they used to when the stat went on it, but not soon after i changed the stat.

during both these events my temp guage was reading fine, normal temp range when it was really infact over heating.

so now my temp guage doesnt read, most of the time it doesnt read anything, and on rare occasions it reads at the first C level, then back down.

so i changed both temp sensors, the one in the water pump which from what i thought turned on the fans, and the one in the head which sends the guage the temp.

still hasnt fixed the problem, the fans wont turn on and the gauge still doesnt read. the gauge read a bit at first then it stopped.

i tested the temp wiring by touching the temp clip with a ground wire, at first it was nothing then when i wiggled it a bit the gauge shot up. so i dont know if it was a bad connection on my part or a bad connection on the temp clip.

so either way when it was working fine and now, it still reads waaaay below what the actual temp is. has anyone run into this problem?? im thinking there may be a short in the wire from the pcm to the temp sensor, if possible can i splice in a wire from the pcm straight to the temp sensor? i dont know why but its either not reading at all or its not reading the correct temp.

any help would e greatly appreciated. for now i just unplugged the clip on the sensor on the waterpump to keep the fans on at all times so i dont over heat, but the early starts are horrible and fuel milage is worse.

So the temp sensor in the head or the waterpump turned on when you wiggled the wires?

How do you know its overheating if you cant read the temp from the computer and the gauge in the head doesnt work?

well the heat gets REALLY REALLY hot, the rad hoses get REALLY REALLY hot and lastly the coolant steams and over flows. trust me its overheating.

the sensor in the head. but it wasnt reading correct, it was way under where it shoudl have been.

Re: car over heating, fans wont turn on

okay we messed around with it today, seems to be a electrical problem, found the air pump fuse keeps blowing when you start the car, but if you insert the fuse after the car is running its fine.

also the temp guage seems to work when the key is flipped to the first position but when its flipped to "on" and "ignition" it goes dead.

what do you guys think??? bad ground some where???

fans still not working, LOL

Wire the fan to a manual switch. Problem solved... I had to do it because the relay kept blowing.

My fans still won't turn on after going through 2 of the temp sensors in the waterpump. So I just said to hell with it and wired it up to a switch.
