car overheating.... help
ok so last week i put on some shorties, and burned out a plug wire so i haven't been driving my car, well i got my new wires in yesterday and installed them and went for a drive. I stopped at mcdonalds to grab food and the car started overheating massively, so i shut it off. Well whats happening is this, the car heats up VERY quickly and driving speed has no effect on temp, i thought the thermostat may have been stuck so i pulled it out, but that made no difference. The way i figure it is that it is either a water pump or head gasket, waterpump is only 40k old, and there is no power lose. The funny thing is my heat doesn't work. but the water that is in the radiator is getting very hot. I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas or has experienced a similar problem and if so what they found the problem to be. I plan on picking up a compression tester tomorrow, and i am gonna pull a line off the water pump and see if anything is moving through it. (water is not coming out of the weap hole) Also i would appreciate it if someone told me what the reading "should" be on a compression test. Thanks

If it was your head gasket, you would see some water in the oil or be having some smoke outta the exhaust and possibly smell it. I would say you might have a plugged heater core. You can try to flush it or bypass it. I did mine last week. Flush that is.
If your water pump was out it would leak through the weap hole most of the time. Mine lasted me exactly 40k.
