Car Running SLOW after header install. HELP
Finally got the Y pipe welded to the exhaust and the car's running so terribly slow. It sounds great, revs fine, just doesnt really go.
Jet-Hot Longtubes
Hooker Y pipe
SCE copper gaskets
It does have an exhaust leak on the drivers side and I still have to plug the AIR ports completely, but I dont understand why it's running so slow. Wires are fine, nothing touching, no arcing/lightshow. I did break the little plastic tube that goes from out of the the fuel lines across (under) the throttle body and into a piece on the passenger side. It's small, and I just put a hose over the two pieces to make it one again. Don't know what it is, but I dont see how that would matter anyway. Anyone have any ideas, I'm all ears

Also - The car idles excellent, and is VERY smooth. Just no power. I reused my old plugs (Bosch Platinum +4s), but they should be good for a long time to come. I did set them on the ground though, if a speck of dirt, or anti seize got in them, would that cause the problems im having? Should I just buy a new set of NGKs to be sure?
Note: The car was also slow when it was open headers on the way to the muffler shop. Any ideas...

What "AIR ports" do you still need to plug? If its the ones on the header primaries, you will have an air leak into the headers, and that air will cause a "false" lean, and cause the PCM to add fuel the engine doesn't need. It will run excessively rich. Misfires, from burned wires or cracked plugs will also cause that problem, as will other exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors. Does it smell like its running rich?
The plastic line you broke is the purge line from the EEC canister in the drivers rear fender, and it should not cause any problems, assuming you eliminated any air leakage.... another problem, at least when the EEC canister purges that will cause it to run "lean", and add extrra fuel to compensate.

Exactly what Injuneer said. I would plug the AIR holes and fix the exhuast leak, those could both your problems. If it still runs slow after that then there could be something else wrong. With the AIR and the exhaust leak it is pulling oxygen into the system with will make the 02's give a false lean condition.

Looks like I put two of the wires on backwards. The back two passenger side wires. Going to cross them the right way once the headers cool down. Thanks Koby, Injuneer I was definetly wondering what that silly line was. Thanks. Hopefully this will fix the problem (its definetly smelling like gas gas gas)
