I replaced the maf sensor today and it didn't help. I'll cut the cat off and replace the o2 sensors next I guess.

my car did the same thing...it was the 02's. replace them with ac delcos

Running too rich = front o2 sensors
Massive air sucking = vac leak
or faulty MAF or something similar
Lots of buildup in the cylinder will cause black smoke.
