Car still acting all weird after new alternater, HELP!
Okay, explain this one, i put a new alternater in my car cuz it died on me one night after i let it run for a while to warm up, i put in the alternater and it dident work, you guys told me to charge the battery and POOF, it worked. 3 days later im on my way home and my lights dim and my check gauges light flickers off and on. well low and behold i looked down at my gauges and my battery gauge is half way into the yellow. So i charger it that night for like 10 hours and the next day it did the same thing. Today i started it and it went all the way down to the bottem of the gauge and the check gauges light was flickering and the service engine soon light came on. I broke down and went and bought a brand new battery and put it in, and the gauge is STILL half way in the yellow??? and the check gauges light is still flickering.. Help me please if you know anything, oh yeah, im about 500 miles overdue for an oil change, would that have anything to do with it?
Thanks a bunch guys,
Scott

double check your wire connections: from altenator to battery, battery to chassis ground, battery to positive junction box. i'm actually upgrading all of my wires to 4 gauge soon and that may help you as well. having your battery out of the car should have reset the pcm but just incase disconnect the battery again.

No, when he replaced the battery the comp was reset. sounds like the alt is taost again. if the battery was die when you put on the alt you could have over heated the new alt while was running at max output changing to recharge the dead bettery. more then likely, you have fried the voltage regulator. try and get the alt warrantied and recharge the battery. or take out the alt and have it bench tested>

most likely, but it is possible you cooked it with the dead battery. you know, worked it to hard and over heated it. I've heard of this happening before. It is even a good idea to fully charge a new battery before you put it in the car.
