I drove my 96 z28 M6, today and it ran fine. Then after I got back in and turned the key, all the electronics went off. There are no gauge lights, interior lights or anything else electrical working. I disconected the battery and reconnected it and still the same thing. Went home to get another key to see if it was the VATS, and same thing happened. The security light has been on constantly for about 3 months with no problems except the light being on. Now it just keeps making a clicking sound, until I put the key in and turn it. Then nothing. I have an extended warranty so hopefully it's covered but I still would like any help if you guys can help me. Thanks.

 

If your getting no interior lights that means the battery is dead or a bad connection somewhere. No security equip can turn off those lights. Try jumping it.

 

It's not the battery, because when I first turned the key to the on position, all of the lights and gauges were working. When I turned the key more to start it everything went out and I started hearing a clicking sound.

 

the starter clicks when there is not enough power to start it.

 

had the same problem with mine turned out to be the positve battery cable
