Car Wont Start!! HELP!?!?!
Ive got a 94z, the only mods ive done: CAI, catback exhaust , cags!, 160 stat
The car was parked for the winter, when i went to get it out it would not start, i checked the spark, OK, pulled a plug, has gas on it. It cranks over, acts like it wants to start, then backfires, but wont start. changed plugs, and fuel filter. Not sure what else to do.... also when i cranked it over without the cai attached, fire came out the throttle body. The Plugs i put in it are AC Delco factory replacement ($8 apiece). Also last summer when i put the 160 stat in it, i didnt get the pcm reprogrammed, ran it all summer that way, i didnt know that it woulnt go into closed loop that cold (read that on here). is it possible that hurt something. I just bought some new plug wires too, their msd 8.5mm, think that will help? any thoughts or help is very much appreciated. thanks

The fuel probably went bad. Did you put preservative in it before you put it up? Next time you store it for long periods of time, put in fresh fuel and add Sta-bil to the tank. But now to fix your problem. To make sure this is truly the problem, pull the fuel pump relay located under the driver dead pedal. This will keep any more fuel from being pumped into the engine. Now slip the snorkel off the intake and squirt a few ounces of fresh fuel into the intake with the throttle plates held open. Put the snorkel back on and try cranking it over. If it starts and shuts off right away, that's your problem.
The best way to drain the funky fuel out of the tank is to remove the fuel filter and let it drain. That won't get all of it though, so pull off the vent and blow compressed air easily into the line the vent is on. This will get most of it out. When that quits, put the relay back in if you haven't already done so. With the filter still off, jump 12volts to the fuel pump prime connector and let the pump push out the rest. BUT as soon as the fuel is out, take the jumper off the prime connector.
Now put the hoses back and fill the tank at least 1/2 full. Take the core out of the schrader valve on the fuel rail and attach a hose to it and run it into a container. Jump 12 volts to the fuel pump prime connector and let the fuel run into the container until it looks and smells fresh. Remove the jumper, put the schrader valve back together and be sure everthing is connected properly and go KOEO about 3 times without cranking the engine. Then go ahead on the 4th time and try starting it.
Just incase you're not formiliar with the fuel pump prime connector, Rob has this excellent picture (Thanks Rob)
