Unhappy Car won't turn over after hotcam install

I just finished the hotcam kit install tonight and went to start the car. When I half-turned the key for the fuel pump to prime everything worked right. Then I went to start it and it was one crank and dead (never turned over). Nothing was getting power. I went back and tried to start it again a few times but when I half-turned the key, everything went kind of crazy. The lights were blinking on and off really fast. When I went to start it anyway it was one crank and then completely dead. I tried to jump it from my dad's car afterwards and the electricity acted normal then. It primed and everything worked great. I went to start the car and it ticked but didn't turn over. The electricity didn't cut out though so it would keep ticking as long as the key was turned. At first I thought it was an electrical problem and I guess it still is, but it won't turn over. The belt moves just a little each time it "ticks". As far as I know, everything's hooked up the same as it was before. I know it's a tough one but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alex

Probably a loose battery cable.

Might be a ground somewhere.. Also if theres no problem then make sure the battery voltage is up. other than that i dunno

Well I redid the battery cables several times. Could it be a misprogrammed pcm? I just got it back from pcmforless and never had it with the stock programming...I just don't know what would make the electricity go crazy and have it not turn over when the car is being jump-started. Thanks for the replies.

It's not the programming. If you're only getting about a second of crank power, either your battery cables or ground cables are loose, or the battery is dead. Does the battery have enough power?

There is a ground strap on the drivers side in the engine compartment, make sure its to the frame.

Another possibility is that you have the cam installed wrong and the valves are hitting pistons. That would keep it from turning over.

Good Luck,

Scott

Talking

Damn don't I feel retarded. It was a loose battery cable! Thanks for the replies though. The car is definately faster, it just gets up to the high rpms in no time. I still haven't floored it or shifted past 5k yet though so we'll see what happens. I'll post my dyno results when I get it done. Hoping for 315-330 rwhp.
