My temperature gauge never rises when I shut off my car. I say bleed your coolant and see how it is. When I had air in my coolant lines, the temp would climp at a stop, and go right down when i moved again or reved my engine.

My car never did get a LOT of heat with a 160 in it around here. So I flushed the heater core twice. Didn't really help a lot. It was totally gone I guess..also I don't think these cars like the heater flush. I had a new heater core installed, it would get some heat but not a ton. So for winters, I put my 180 t-stat back in(be carefule not to spill coolant see othe post) and now it does great, the heat that almost burns you

I know a lot of peaple say 160 gets plenty ofheat, but mine never did even with a brand new heater core....
