Catback and Headers with stock Y

Re: Catback and Headers with stock Y
Well, you are going to be limiting yourself by keeping the stock y. You will have to get shorties. So if you HAVE to keep the stock y, then get SLP shorties and a GMMG Catback. But If you change your mind, go long tubes with an Off road Y pipe and GMMG Catback.

Thanks for the replies. Well I would get an ORY, except I think I wouldn't pass emissions that way. However, maybe an aftermarket catted Y pipe woud work. Lets say I got the Mac Mid length headers and a Magnaflow cat back, what catted Y pipe setup seems to work well with this? Thanks again

Re: Catback and Headers with stock Y
The mac header are NOT SMOG legal. They move the cats from their stock location. It is against Fed emissions law that they can not be move. So, if you go with the Mac set, you might as well run the off road Y.

Re: Catback and Headers with stock Y
i know a guy who has run 108mph with a stock 96-97 style y pipe, shorty headers and a 3" catback. they arent a limitation until you get over about 325rwhp.
as far as the catted y pipes not being emmissions legal because of the moved cats, most inspectors dont worry about that ****. they just want to make sure it has a functioning cat on it.
