CC Pro Mag RR

Do I need guide plates with the Comp Cam Pro Magnum 1.6 Roller Rockers? I'll be using a CC306 cam, high energy hydraulic rollers, and high energy pushrods....it does not say anything about "self alinging" or not in their description....If I do need guide plates with the Pro Mag's, what is the part number? Thanks in advance.

Non-self aligning needs guide plates, self-aligning don't.

If they are self-aligning, where the rocker seats on the valve stem, there will be disk like followers on the side of the roller that are used to keep the rocker centered on the valve stem. If there are no "followers" then you will need guideplates

I'm looking in summitracing.com at part number CCA-1302-16...it doesn't say anything about SA or NSA, nor about needing guide plates

Yeah, I might as well get the guideplates, they're only $30 or so...even if they are SA, they certainly cant hurt anything... haha

For the NSA's, consider using GM guide plates. A search will give the explanations better than I can. Having my heads done by Lloyd Elliot, using CC Pro Mag 1.6 (NSA), dual springs, etc. The new cam will be a CC306, so the set-ups are similar. He advised me about the GM guideplates, too. It seems the others don't fit as well and often require machining whereas the GM gp's fit fine. Ordered mine from CMotorsports when I ordered the rest of the valve train. Racenet also has them. PN#20-1401105. Hope this helps! BTW, consider moving up to 7/16ths studs and rockers while you're at it.

It can hurt. SA rockers are designed to be used without guideplates.

When needed, GM guideplate p/n 14011051 is the right one.

Well do the Comp Cams Pro Magnum rockers need guide plates or not? I still can't find the answer out there. Someone in here must have them, and did they use guideplates?

The ones I'm looking at are PN# CCa-1302-16 at summitracing.com
