CC306 Install

Well I think I finally have enough sack for a cam install. I wanted to double check with my favorite LT1 buddies on parts and comments.

CC306 [Oh baby ]
Cloyes 3145 Timing Set
Felpro Intake Gaskets
Timing cover, TB, and WP Gaskets
Crane 10308 Sping Kit [For Aluminum Heads]
Madwolf PCM Tune
GM Valve Seals
Intake sealant
Stock or low mileage crane lifters
Comp Magnum Pushrods 7.200"
95+ Opti Kit
Stock Injectors

Whats everyone think? The Summit guy said that spring kit wouldnt work on my LT1, but I beg to differ, which I have with Summit many times over LT1 parts.

Any really good install pages or tips? Should I get ARP intake, cam, or any other bolts?

Wish me luck.

Re: CC306 Install

Look like you already have the rockers set up
Not sure about the springs, sure hope they work.

You running stock heads and injectors?

FWIW I put my shopping list (for my heads/cam install) at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2297151/4
I think you have pretty much everything you need.

What was the LSA on that cam ? I think duration and lift were something like 230/244 .340/.340

Re: CC306 Install

Srings are good to .600, xxsaint69x [Marcin] ran them with his CC306. Not a bad kit IMO.

CC306 230/244 .510/.540 112LSA [with 1.5 Rockers]

Stock head and stock injectors.

Sounds good to me.
You might want to consider ported heads and larger injectors,
but it'll work without them. That cam is going to push peak HP
higher into the powerband and drive duty cycle on your injector up.
You can always come back and do that later.

Re: CC306 Install

I have 38 lb'ers here, but we'll see how the stockers run, I know many folks running them with no problem.

Yea, I had a set of GTP LT4 heads and Intake but I decided to go CC306+ N2O rather than straight motor.

Thanks.

Re: CC306 Install

The car must have 4.56's with a 4500rpm stall and run open loop for 6-7mpg. 454's and bigger do better than that. I have seen M6 guys running mid to high teens mpg with the CC306.

Re: CC306 Install

and what type of milage do you think you are going to get???,gears, converter, ported heads,camshaft,etc..are all going to eat into your milage figures,i did start out w/a 2.73rear/19mpg car, city driving, that managed 13.8 1/4mi bone stock, and i wish i would have thought smaller(heads-cam-gears)so for final thoughts think how much milage are you going to lose w/each mods????...cam-maybe 2-3mpg,converter another 2or3,well you get the message, yes, there are people out there who will tell you their car gets 16-20mpg,but mine dose'nt, and my ride is for sale!..why, bad gas millage!!

Re: CC306 Install

I really didnt want this to turn into a debate on mileage cause frankly I'm not doing a cam or any mod for that matter, to improve gas mileage. However, most guys with cams and bolt on's aren't running around tanking 6 miles per gallon. Under reasonable driving conditions most are in the teens, some with M6's with those lovely 5-6 gears hit 20.

Then again I'm not running ported heads, intake, or larger TB, but I dont think I'll see 6-7 but more like 12-17 somewhere in there. If I baby my car, and I mean baby it I can pull 26mpg on the highway. Not bad with 3.73's. And with my Vigilante my non-stop and go mileage got better since it locked up more efficiently.

Maybe your injectors are failing since they perhaps are too small for your setup?

Re: CC306 Install

I have a cc306 with ported heads, 373's,stall,headers and other mods. I am getting 13 mpg. that is city/highway driving and my tune is out of whacked. running deathly rich at idle..
but getting straightened out by the end of this week. if your only getting 6-7 mpg. something is def. wrong ...
