depends on what kind of driver you are. most folks i've noticed can't keep their speed constant and would be better off using cruise. most drivers are also more concerned with everything else going on around them rather than their driving. i love watching other folks constantly pass and fall behind as i steadily cruise 65-70. being able to hear the pitch of your engine helps immensely. i think that's what i key in on mostly to maintain speed.

cruise control will constantly add throttle and brake to maintain an active speed, so when you go up or down hills the car will react very heavily where as you can cost down and hill and moments after it to maintain a speed
