CCA-07-466 268XFI cam users with 5.7.

Anyone have any dyno graphs that use this cam on a an A4 with a 350ci and how does it drive, idle, etc. Good low end torque below 3k rpms?
Specs say 218/224 .570/.565 with 1.6RRs good for power from 1800-5800. Would like to see a dyno sheet to see what the curve looks like.

Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but I have this cam on my 350TPI 1989GTA. Drivability is excellant. Idles nicely at 750rpm. I have the dyno graph but don't know how to post it. I have the 700R4 with a Yank SS3600 torque converter.

Basically with my current modified TPI setup the motor looks to be running out of air at 5000 rpm because the horsepower is virtually flat at 350rwhp from 5000rpm to 6200rpm where the dyno pull was stopped. It made 350rwhp and 365rwtq with an unlocked torque converter.

I believe this is enough to get the car into the low 12's and maybe with good air a very high 11.xx. Going to modify the TPI one more time for more air and install a 4L60E transmission. This should get me into the 11's without problem.

What are your tq#s at the various rpms?
I had a TPI motor in my truck at one point, it does produce great low end torque, maybe the restrictive runners are running out of air at 5k, seems that was about the limit on my ported stock TPI intake, something the LT1 corrected.

I have this cam and I love it.
It has a nice lope and its real snotty out of the hole.
It drives like a stocker. the powerband starts pull real hard from 2300 up to 6200rpm.
The best part is that you can drive around at 60mph in 6th with no problems.
It best above 2000rpm for cruising
This cam sounds real nice at 750rpm.
My car is an M6

Almost forgot.....
Get the comp 918 springs not the 915's like the cam card recommends.
These springs are a joke with this cam

Do you have any dyno sheets for it and that is a 350ci?
I've got a couple of dyno sheets for some smaller cams I was considering and want to see how this ones curve looks like compared to others down in the low rpms below 4k..say from 2k to 4k. Not really interested in peak at high rpms since I'm looking for a daily driver.
Got an LPE 211/219 in the truck, but it weighs considerably more and has different gearing than the TA so its hard to tell just how it will feel. Have a big cam now and its not wife friendly to drive if you know what I mean...wife hates it.

This cam looks like a good compromise between the LPE 211/219 that sounds completely stock and the too big of cam I have now.

Anyone got any sound clips of this 268XFI cam also?? and dyno sheet still needed.
Thanks

I am very interested hearing from anyone who is using this cam in a daily driver also. Any info on drivability and fuel mileage with an A4?

Here is a sound clip for you.
http://videos.camaroz28.com/video/ec...4401638d07.htm

I am getting it strapped to a dyno next week.
I have the idle set a 850rpm
I'll post the results.

That sounds really great sam. Amazing how much different the 218/224 duration sounds over the 211/219 I have in the LT4 truck.
Can't wait to see what the dyno numbers are down around the 3k-5k range too as well as the peak.
Thanks a million!

Hey Sam did you make it to the dyno?

If your valvetrain can handle it that would be a very good cam on a 350. Be prepared to shift at about 6800rpm. Your horsepower peak should be around 6300-6400rpm.

That cam is basically a high lift Hotcam. And the Hotcam is pretty good.

EDIT: I'm still amazed at the people who want an "idle sound". If you must have this (although it's pretty much posing) then you can take any decent running cam and turn down the idle. Don't pick a cam based on "idle" characteristics. You brand yourself a moron.

Hmm..who said they were picking anything based on idle??
The idle characteristics I'm looking for are probably completely different than what your thinking. Cam specs say its good for 1800-5800 so shifting at 6800 would be way outside the range.

Comp also says 5800 for the cc306 yet people shift that at 6800+, you can't go by their cam card RPM ranges. With that said I don't see the powerband of a 218/224 cam going much past 6200-6300.

I have the XR-269-HR12 (CC502). It has the same duration numbers but not quite the lift (.528/.536 versus .570/.565) of the XFI268. I don't have any dyno graphs, but I do have a couple sound clips. I for one would think the XFI268 would be a great choice for a car with an automatic.

A 218/224 cam will not make peak power at 6300-6400 with stock heads and intake.
