Unhappy changing #2 plug for lt1 4gen firebird/camaro

How do you change the spark plug for #2 under the alt and by the air compresser. I cannot see the plug or wire from below .there must be a way

Take the alternator off and squeez your hand in there if you can. Some take the motor mount loose on that side and jack up the engine for more room.

I also got it by removing the alternator. Place a piece of carpet over the engine, and lay across it with your feet hanging over the driver side. Wedge your arm in and you should b e able to get to it. It's a pain! My friend Scott is a master mechanic and that is how he does it. His arms are pretty big too but he can still get it in there.

An easier way is to cut the right front corner off the car.

I removed the alternator, it was a bit easier.

I tried the method of laying across the engine and removed the alt. squeezed my big hand and finally got the plug out. only came out of it with one scrape i can live with that thanks guys well done

Once one learns to work by feel instead of sight, these cars become 100% easier to work on

ha- it took me 4 hours to get- dropped my y -piped and wove my arm through headers to get to it- had arm up to shoulder to reach with a friend on top telling me left or right- eventually got it but man it was a pain- good luck

Removing the AIR and the A/C system makes it much easier to access that plug. Come to think of it, removing those things makes everything much easier to work on on the passenger side.

I found the #8 to be the hardest on my 97. But then I didn't drop the "Y" pipe.
