Changing Front Wheel Studs

Changing Front Wheel Studs
Just like in the description. How do I replace my stock wheel studs. Can I just bang them out with a hammer? And how do I put the new ones in? Do they need to be pressed? I've done a search and can't find a definitive answer.
Thanks,
Mark

The correct way is to press them out. That avoids the impact loads to the wheel bearings.
That said, I have changed mine by simply pounding them out with a hammer. To get the new ones in, push the stud through from the back, put a large washer on it to protect the hub, then put an old lug nut on the stud, flat side facing the hub (not the normal way) and use an air impact gun to pull the stud into the hub. Rub a little anti-sieze on the washer and lug nut to make it work smoother.
