Charcoal Canister Removal

Charcoal Canister Removal
What are the steps involved to remove this? Is this correct?
1- Remove plastic/rubber lines from Intake
2- Remove Line from Intake to Canister
3- Remove Canister
4- Program Out the Purge (is this part of the program??)
5- Remove All Associated Accessories & Wiring
6- Cap Off Intake Ports (Do I need to do this??)
Should I do this? I know about the gas smell, I just want a cleaner looking engine compartment. Has anyone ever done this?

In fact, there are several tubes and electrical devices that are connected with the charcoal canister. Upon removal, there would be less in the "eye-sore" category with all that crap there...
Now, has anyone actually done this?

Does removing just the solenoid and lines throw any codes or cause any unforseen problems?
