i know i have an exhaust leak on the passenger side. today i started the car up and was under hood. i reved it a little from the tb to listen to the exhaust leak.... then i hear a chatter when it reved down from around plug 8. only when it reved down from higher rpm ...(around 3000 i would guess) almost sounded like a diesel idle type chatter.

1. exhaust leak (possible crack in manifold?)
2. lifters? rocker arms
3. something internal? (maybe rist pin?)


keep in mind i have 188,000 miles

i know i need to rebuild regardless... just don't have that kinda $$$. shot me some theorys plz.

A compression check will settle most mechanical issues. The plug should let you know if you're getting fuel & spark. If it seems ok, it's possible you could have an exhaust leak. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to get a piece of hose and listen around under the hood. A lot of noises can be deceiving down there.

i know that its getting spark and fuel so that ones ruled out

i don't think its the rockers...

cracked manifold? now it has blueish white smoke!!!
