check gages
I am having problems with my car.Let me start from the begining. car quit on me coming home one day. Car would restart but only run for about 30 seconds did this for a couple then finally ran along enought to get home about 5 minutes. ran test with carmd reader. codes po153, po102,p1371 po400, they said most likely a bad maf sensor. before I replaced maf I unplugged
maf and ran car it would run for about 20 minutes then shut off. Temp gage showed hot and had ses light and check gage light . replaced thermostate
and that solved temp gage reading. Then car would run for about 20 min then shut off and show same ses and check gage lights. repalce temp sensor in water pump and still did same thing. replace maf sensor car now will onlr run for about 6min and shows ses and check gages lights again
Thanks for any help

The check gauges light is not driven by the PCM. Its turned on by a low oil pressure, high coolant temp, low fuel, etc. readings from the dash gauges.
If the coolant temp gauge still reading high? You need to sort the coolant temp out to turn that off. You need to determine whether the engine is actually overheating, or if its simply a problem with the coolant temp gauge or the sensor in the driver's side head for the gauge. The PCM reads the coolant temp off a sensor in the water pump housing. A scanner will allow you to see if the PCM reading is the same as the gauge reading.
Overheating causes electronic components to break down. The Ignition Control Module (ICM) is prone to breakdown on overheating. The optical sensor module in the Opti is prone to overheating. The problem may be indicated by the P1371 code. That indicates the PCM can not find the low resolution pulse signal from the Opti optical sensor. It needs that signal to time the fuel injection and ignition. If it can't find the pulse signal, it shuts down the fuel system - injectors and pump. Clear the code (pull "PCM BAT" fuse for 30-seconds - key off). See if it comes back each time the engine dies.
