Right now my '93 Z28 is completely stock, and I would like to keep it that way, except for one thing. I would like it to be a bit more rumbly driving around . I have a '00 WS6 with stuff done to it to drive around when I want the real go fast, so I just would like this one to sound good while I'm driving it around as my DD. I have to fix a couple things still on the Z and then it will be good to go. I'm not too familiar with the LT1 exhausts since I've been a LS1 guy so far, so that's why I need your help (I also went straight past just a catback setup to a full exhaust change).

Right now I have 2.5 true duals through an X and Flowmaster single chambered (10-series) mufflers on my WS6. I like the sound of that as far as noise level is concerned for that car, but I would like this one just a little quieter. Not a lot, but a little bit. I would also like to keep it cheap since I'm in college and this is just my DD. One more thing is I like it to sound very deep. What would be a good option for purely sound? I put catback/muffler in case there is a nice muffler that i could get and just weld in place of the stock muffler so it would sound better. What do you think?

I used to have one of those on my WS6, but it wasn't much louder at all compared to the stock exhaust. Is the LT1 muffler a different one or something?

Its the same muffler. Any catback on stock manifolds and cats is not going to be really loud.

If you just want loud get a loudmouth, or better yet just a $25 cutout.

magnaflow! you'll love it.

quiet under normal driving and loud when you are on it. trust me, and its stainless steel tubing. You can't beat the price.

I've heard a flowmaster and they are pretty loud on the stock manifolds/Y. I'm not sure about the others. I was thinking about a magnaflow for my TA before I ended up getting the Hooker.

Do some checking around. It seems as if Flowmaster is far from being the best catback for the LT1. The low end seems to be Hooker and Magnaflow. More expensive is Borla and Corsa.

I know the flowmaster doesn't flow well, but I'm not interested in more power with this car. It's just purely for sound. This is just my DD so I don't really care how much faster it is as long as it has some pep to it .

A lot of people like the Magnaflow catback, which you can get for about $350. Or you can just get the Magnaflow muffler separate for $100 with the 3" inlet, especially since you don't plan on any serious engine mods.

I personally dislike the magnaflow as it is far too quiet, plus i have yet to see one with tips that are alligned properly.

I think the Loudmouth would be perfect for your application, as it is fairly inexpensive, stainless, and on exhaust manifolds with cats will get you the sound you're looking for with a very aggressive tone.

How much louder is the magnaflow than stock? Or maybe compared to the flowmaster because I've heard one of them too. I've ridden around in both of them, so if you can compare them to those two then that would be good .

Seems everyone has a different view of loud.

I never found an 80 series (the fbody flowmaster) to be loud. Now a single 40 would be louder, but still not bad. I ran dual 40s for a while and though it was very quiet, but it was the deepest note I ever had with my lt1.

Hooker and Magnaflow are both quiet at idle and cruise. Each is a littler louder at idle and cruise than stock. Both do their talking when you put your foot down, and then are much louder than stock.
