Well I figured it would be in between the stock and flowmaster since the flowmaster is pretty decently loud.

Magnaflow always has a strange sound to it to me... Over the internet anyway. I haven't heard it in person. And the clips on ls1sounds.com sound actually really bad (a couple of them). They have a real bad crackling and popping when you let of the gas and stuff. Here are the ones I was listening to.

http://ls1sounds.com/magnaflow/magna...tock_95z28.wmv
http://ls1sounds.com/magnaflow/magna...k_96LT1_01.wav
http://ls1sounds.com/magnaflow/magna..._start-rev.WMV

Those are all three different cars doing the same thing too. There aren't any videos without it sounding like that either. Do those sound like it actually does or is there somthing weird with them for some reason?

Just in case you're confused by the flowmasters I've been talking about, I'll clarify a little bit. The flowmaster on the LT1 I rode around in was the 80 series muffler. Not even the catback, but just the muffler welded in. That was the only thing done to the car. The flowmasters on my car are not the 80 series, they are the 10 series single chambered one that tiny and much louder.

I had an IMCO exhaust with 3 in piping and Hi Flo cat put in a few weeks ago and love it. It was a great upgrae from my 80 series. Very noticeable difference.

Those race series small Flowmasters are insanely loud. I had them on my car
for about two weeks and could not stand the interior resonance. I switched
them out for a Dynomax. So if you want something just a little tamer than those
race mufflers your only option is a small diameter magnaflow/dynomax straight
through type. Anything else will be too quiet.

Here's a soundclip of my old hooker catback, I had headers though so it will be quieter with stock manifolds/cats.

Ok, so does the Magnaflow really sound like it does in those clips I posted? It sounds really bad to me in those... :/

This on the other hand I think sounds very good.... http://ls1sounds.com/Hooker/hooker_stock95LT1_M6.wav

That's the hooker as you can see. Does that sound like it really does?

Also, on a '93 Z28, what are the inlet/outlet sizes for the muffler? I thought it was 2.5/2.25, but summit gives me 3/2.5 mufflers when i put '93 in there. I know I had that in my TA, but I thought the '93 was smaller. Let me know .

Just get a cut-out, uncap it when you want it loud and cap it when you want it stock.

I have a 93z and I used an 80 series flowmaster and it rumbled good, but not to loud, unless you got on it. I later on gutted the cat, big mistake!!

A difference worth considering between the Hooker and the Magnaflow is the Magnaflow is stainless steel, and the Hooker isn't.

I just got my Hooker cat back installed on my 97 TA this weekend and I feel like they are a bit quieter than Magnaflow.

Actually I was a little disappointed to be honest because I was expecting the hookers on my 97 TA to be just as loud as my 94 TA which had Magnaflows. But the hookers were much quieter.

On the other hand, I felt that Magnaflows were a bit more raspy and the hookers had a more cleaner deep tone and I do like that hooker sound, but they do seem quieter than the magnas. I also prefer the tips on the hookers than the magnas.

Then again the only car I had with a magnaflow cat back was my 94 TA which was stock but without cats. The 97 with hookers is stock with cats. Maybe that is what makes the difference.

Can anyone chime in on how much louder magnaflows are compared to hookers?

Yeah, I would like to know that. I would bet that the cats would make quite a bit of difference, but I'm not 100% sure, so I can't really compare them that well in that case until I know how much difference that would make.

Right now, I have Flowmasters on my Z28. They have a nice deep rumble when idleing. But when you rev the engine a little...they come alive and are quite loud. They sound great when you are getting it...when I pass my buddies playin' around...they are pretty impressed.

In-expensive and a decent performance boost. These will give you the sound you are looking for...

I feel like the lack of cats on my 94 made the difference.
