I think I am going to go against my judgment here. I am used to buying titanium retainers for half of what these 918 retainers are priced as. With that weight difference, I think I can save some money and go with the steel. I know both are plenty strong enough for my use. Ive done some more checking and I have found that the part number 795-16 is the steel 10 degree retainer. Still my issue is that that retainer is designed for the 26120 valve spring. Can someone that runs this retainer reply to guarantee it works with the 918 spring.

The 795's are what I am using on my PAC 1518's, which are a drop in replacement for the 26918's.

I did not reply regarding the use of Ti on a street motor originally because that was not the question. I do agree that Ti on a street motor, regardless of the type of spring, is a bad idea. Ti wears much faster than steel and should only be used in situations where you remove and check them at least every 5K miles.

If you are dying to have the Ti retainers, I have everything you need, except the springs, and will sell it to you. I'll have to figure out what I want and let you know. I also have the springs if you want the whole deal. Send a PM if interested.

I believe it depends on how agressive the setup is perhaps? Maybe not...
I had Ti retainers on my 1.46" dual springs which had around #370 open pressures for over 70K miles, daily driven, taken to over 6K rpm every day. Then put on 1.48" dual springs with roughly the same open pressures for another 10K miles and they looked fantastic after taking them out. They were then sold. Now I have them in my SR engine w/ 1.58" springs and 500# open pressures. However the car is maybe driven once a week, but it is on the street. I guess we'll see. I think 96capricemgr has yet another valid point in the fact that quality is key.
