every few months I'll take my rims off 1 at a time, spray it down with rims cleaner and scrub it with a rim brush and the cracks and tight spots with an old tooth brush then rinse em and dry them off then wax the rims and they look cherry for a few months with normal cleanings and also that tar crap comes off alot easier with the wax on the rims, this is for painted rims though, i have 2002 ss 10 spokes. dont know what u got?

Get some wheel cleaner and spray it on the wheel. Let the spray sit for a little bit. Then try to wipe it away. If that doesn't work try some Bug & Tar remover. Wipe that on, and wipe it off.

You could also try spraying on Purple Muscle or Simple Green and then hosing it off the wheels with a pressure washer at the car wash.

try to clay bar it. if its chrome, try to stay away from from chrome cleaner sprays, they're so acidic. put a coat of wax on them to make it easier to clean in the future.
