Code 43 question....

OK, got a question. Are there an other sensors or modules that could cause Code 43 in an OBD1 car? I have already eliminated the KM, ICM, and have a new KS on order, are there any others while I am at it?

DTC 43 = Knock Sensor. Sensor is bad or the wire is loose/faulty. Why did you replace (check???) everything else? VERY easy to check both the sensor and the wiring.

Hmmm..I had been told that the IC and KM could also cause that fault...And the ICM did test bad at O'reilly's, every time it was tested. But it didn't really help.

If you use a "generic" GM code list, it will show DTC 43 as HEI, timing or ignition module. That is the correct designation for a 3rd Gen engine. But on a 4th Gen LT1, you need to use the LT1 specific code list, and that list indicates DTC 43 is the knock sensor.

Ahhh...OK, that explains that...I did change it, but to no avail, it still has problems in D and R, but not P or N...No KR at all...And #4 exhaust primary glows a little bit. But at least code 43 is no longer lighting up. This is getting old kinda fast...
