Coil Packs! How many & Locations?
#3
I await the answer to this question---since I don't know what the question is---unless you are referring to coil-on plug "packs" aka LSx ig system---becuase an Lt1 has only (1) coil to my knowledge. Someone please respond so that I can say that I learned something today. THX.

There is a single coil on the LT1 engine whereas the LS1 has 8, one per cylinder. Here is the location: http://shbox.com/1/coil_loc.jpg

Thanks I am getting a random misfire code every now and then. The car will run fine for a week and then the SES pops on. The car runs fine and then I feel a slight stumble which results in the misfire code. Plugs, wires, opti and injectors have been recently replaced,so I was going to go ahead and replace it since it's the stock one I'm sure and it's only like 35.00 bucks.

That was the first thing I did and I did apply dielectric grease. It only does it every now and then. Start the car and it idles fine one day then the next day when I start it, it stumbles and sets a code. It even will stunble slightly for a second it drive and then smooth out.

Yes it was at one point. I f i hooked up my code scanner after the light came on,then the scanner would only give me the p0300. When I hook the scanner up and run it while driving, the code sets and the scanner picks up the cylinder the misfire occured on.(PO307) I am going to switch plug wires to see if the code jumps to another cylinder.I think that I may have a head gasket going bad. Here lately my coolant level keeps dropping.I have checked the oil and no signs of water.

Unhooked the #7 wire and I got the same P0307 code and I couldn't tell any difference between the time it was attached and when it wasn't. Maybe a bad wire? going to replace just that one and see what happens.

The plugs are brand new ac delco platinum that were put on yesterday by my mechanic in hopes that that was the problem. The wires are new also. I replaced the #7 cylinder wire with another one I had and it still showed the code. The car will run fine then I get a code. I'm running out of things to check. I'm thinking head gasket since the problem still exists and I'm loosing coolant every couple days.
