My car has been running real sh!tty lately and I was convinced my opti went out. Anyways I fired up the car tonight and went down the block real quick, and it was missing under 3k RPM under moderate acceleration. I got home and checked the wires to see if they're arcing and nothing. But my coil is arcing to the metal ring around it(MSD blaster) and when I went to check the coil wire it arced to my fingertips. I was like WTF cuz I didnt know that could happen. does anyone know what it might be?

BTW: when I went to touch the coil wire with 4 fingertips it kinda looked like this, just not as cool though

 

Guaranteed your coil wire is shot! Mine did the exact same thing, look in the boot for rust. There is to much resistance in the wire, and electricity does not like resistance and takes the shortest patch thats with it is arching.

 

I'm gonna get a new set of wires tomorrow and replace everything. thanks for the heads up, hope it gets the problem solved.

 

Bad wire, its an easy fix. I'm sure that woke you up after getting shocked from that.

 

Well im guessing the damn wire is fried cuz I really didnt feel that much of a shock through my fingertips. I have somehow shocked myself with a car battery and that really felt uncomfortable. im gonna try and get the wires on by today if not it will have to wait till the weekend.

 

should at least throw the coil wire on to see if that fixed the coil arching
