Computer needs to run scanning and programming software?

I was just wondering what I would need to look for in a lap top that I would be using to run a scan program and a tuner program. I will either be doing the tuning myself or getting PCMforless to E-mail me the tuning programs, if I am going to do the tuning myself I will be using tunercat. What are the minimum system requirements, progams, and hardware I will need? This computer will be exclusively used for my car and maybe one more LT1 car so I don't need too many of the bells and whistles.

Thanks for all your help.

As far as a program goes, you'd want to use Tunercat (www.tunercat.com) Since you're wanting to possibly do more than one LT1, Tunercat will let you do multiple PCM's where LT1 Edit is only one car at a time (unless you buy an extra license) If all you are wanting to do is Tunercat with the laptop, then a old 486 mhz laptop even with a small harddrive would work just fine. For scanning, look at a program called FreeScan (http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/ecu_software.htm)

Would it be necessary to have a CD-ROM drive?

I asked this same question like 2wks ago, do a serch for a topic called "minimum laptop requirements" in the computer tuning section has all the answers.
I got a used PII 300, 128/5gb/cd/56k/13" for $250 and it works good. I used win98se as not to slow down the procceser, free scan and am getting tunnercat.

No, you don't need a cd rom drive. All ya need to do is download TunerCat and have a cable.
