Auto parts stores offer free scanning. Just call them and see if any in your area offer it.

They just scan for codes (if OBD-II) and don't do diagnostic monitoring (which would be the most help in this situation).

There was some help in my testing info that required no tools (for your gauge problem). Did you try grounding the sensor lead to see if it caused your gauge to move?

I explained what impact the temp sensor could have, since the information in the previous post was incorrect. I'm really sorry that buying two new temp sensors didn't solve your problem, but you chose to do that before checking them out. Shoebox has detailed instructions for checking the temp sensors using a multi-meter. Anyone with minimal capabilites, AND the multi-meter could follow those instructions. Sounds like you enjoy pissing your money away.

In any case, I won't continue to annoy you with my "no help".

Have a nice day

Ok, if you grounded the wire with the key on and the temp gauge did not move, the sensor was not the problem. The problem is from there toward the gauge.

well the firs tproblem is, i cant get it to run enough to get it hot at all, the max about 2 minutes, so i'll try it again. Is there anything that i should do to the IAC? i really need a scanner, i might try ad push it to my mechanic and have it scanned.

To test the gauge and it's wiring to the sensor in the head, the engine does not have to run. The key just must be ON.
I know you still have the "won't run" problem, but hard to say what that is all about.

Another question is did you buy the correct sensor? Both sensors have different part numbers.

well there def the right parts. Atleast i know my problem isnt in the coolant temp sensor, or atleast i believe its not in the coolant temp sensor. I might try and just rev it and make it run for about 15 minutes straight, try and get some of the old gas out of the car, try and clean out the fuel system before i try anymore with the sensors.

plaf713 - I think we've all been where you are, frustrated, p!ssed off and pulling hair out but believe me, this board and it's members have saved me thousands of $$$. No one on here is out to screw anyone. They offer advice and share experience. I would much rather be on here than in a waiting room at the dealership.

Injuneer, Shoebox and the rest of you, keep up the good work. I for one REALLY appreciate it!!
