Cooling Fan

I am having a weird problem, when I start the car the engine runs for about 30 to 45 sec and then the primary cooling fan comes on and stays on. My car has never run hot and I do not have any codes. Car is stock except for 160 themostat and skip ship eliminator. I would appreciate any ideas on the cause. Thanks Joe

Re: Cooling Fan

Have you scanned for codes? Is the check engine light working? The fan will usually come on in the presence of a trouble code.

Re: Cooling Fan

First Thanks Shoebox for your response, now here is where I get lost! I forgot to mention that I also swapped out my gauge cluster for a different one. My car is a 94 T/A (NON GT) so it came with the low spoiler and the 110mph speedo, so I installed the 150mph cluster. After I installed the 150mph cluster when you start the car all your normal dash lights come on EXECPT the check engine light, as I said earlier 30 to 45 sec later the cooling fan comes on. Now when I reinstalled the 110mph cluster every thing was normal, check engine light comes on then goes off and no cooling fan. I think the 150mph cluster is from a 95 or 96 not sure, now my question is, is this something that could be programed out thru the PCM or is the cluster just not compatable? Am I going to have to find a 94 specific 150 mph cluster? Like I said the 150mph cluster works fine except for the above problem. Thanks again for your help

Re: Cooling Fan

The check engine light should come on during the bulb test. I don't know about the compatibility of the cluster. If you scanned it, you could could find out what the computer is complaining about.
