Angry Cooling issue

Ok, so my car overheated a few weeks ago. I figured no big deal, I'll just flush and refill the system right? Well I just got through with attempting it and I'm baffled. I flush the system until the water runs clear (almost) and then fill it up with straight water to check that everythings ok before I add the antifreeze. So I get it up to temp and let it run for a little while. I filled the overflow tank and bled the air first too. So I go to check and what do I find? Well the radiator has some coolant (I guess it was full) but I check under the thermo, the water pump is bone dry. But it gets better, not only was it burning coolant (sweet-smelling white smoke) but f'n coolant is coming out of my exhaust tips and through my cutout. So I naturally figure a head gasket blew out (f/n awesome) but I'm not sure. Could a bad head gasket actually leak enough that unburned coolant drips from the tailpipe?

I'm stumped really, does anyone have any ideas? Anyone experienced similar?

If enough coolant passes into the cylinder(s), even if it is changed to a gaseous form, some can condense in the exhaust and come out as liquid.
