Cost to mod my car????
I want to put in Cam, heads, CAI, and hollow out my cat. My friend is going to do the work for maybe $200, how much do you think the parts would cost... I don't want a hot cam... I want a bigger cam for more HP. And i might make a homemade CAI outta pvc pipe...
I don't know what other things i might need with these upgrades...
Anyone have an idea at cost for parts i'm looking at???

You are also going to need headers to get the full advantage from heads/cam.
And price all depends on where you get it, what exactly you get, new or used, a lot of things. You have to know pretty close to what you want, what heads, what cam, what accesories, etc.. If you dont, its like calling a dealership and asking how much for a car without saying what kind You gotta know what you want or close to it to get a good answer, because prices can vary a pretty good bit.

As the old saying goes,"speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"Hot-rodding is not cheap-If you do it ,do it right the first time.If you do a heads/cam car-you will need headers, depending on how radical the cam,gears/converter,pcm reprogram, misc. gaskets, etc. If you half-a$$ it,you will be very disappointed. You will not get it done right for $1000.

A grand-
Coated headers, catback, CAI and maybe some SFC

a grand-
Used headers, homemade CAI, Manual Cutout, Used cam, Used RR's, New Springs, New timing chain
As long as the used stuff's in good shape you should be looking at some good hp gains. Forget about heads though

yeah, if you want to keep it under 1000 then you're gonna have to forget about heads for now. Get some used headers and a cam and all of its accessories and a cutout and you should see some pretty good gains.

if you are going to stay under 1000$, you are not going to be doing any serious radical modding. Get some LT's, and a good 3inch Cat back system. That alone is worth about 20-30 hp. If you want to do heads, cam, and a ported and matched intake etc etc...you better start working some OT and saving some money, and start preparing yourself for some hard labor! That is if you do it yourself.
