couple questions about headers and y-pipe
I'll be installing my dynomax shorty headers and borla y-pipe soon and I need gaskets and bolts still....
so what i'm wondering is what gaskets to get for my headers so they dont blow out and what size gaskets for the collectors on the borla y-pipe, next is what size bolts do i get for the headers, I'm gettin stage 8 lockers for the headers and collectors... the size they offer for sbc headers is "3/8 X 16 - 1" long" or "3/8 X 16 - 3/4" long" and well the collector bolts are all the same.. thanks in advance guys!!

idk what your headers look like, but for sure the gaskets to the block are copper fel pro. Period. Next, for the header/ypipe gaskets, idk what you've got, might as well measure and take a look. Probably a 2.5" but 3 bolt or 2 bolt? Again, Fel Pro copper. For header bolts, I dont know which length because I dont know how thick the flanges are.
Otherwise,
TTT for ya.

As far as gaskets, I recommend the Mr. Gasket Copperseal header flange gaskets. Make sure you get the D-port gaskets for the LT1.
For the header flange gaskets, make sure the flanges are straight and even. Not unusual to find they are warped, and if you don't straighten them, you will never be able to stop them from leaking.
The Stage 8 locking bolts are a good idea.... can't remember the length.
[EDIT]
Since you have a 97 dual cat setup, and assuming you are installing dual cat headers, they are probably designed to connect to the stock Y-pipe, using the stock "donut" type gaskets... no???

For the header bolts you may want to consider the width of the flange. I bought 3/4 inch with the MACs. However, the flangs were thick and the guy installing them was concerned with the lack of bolt length into the heads. I used the one inch bolts that came with the headers.
However, if you expect to have trouble with space, the 3/4's will be easier to handle.

Are you saying the Dynomax single cat (i.e. -95) headers do not come with a Y-pipe? Most (but not all) single cat headers come with a Y-pipe, and the Y-pipes are not the same as the stock one.
If you need to connect the collectors to the Y-pipe, get something like the Flo-Tech "dead soft" aluminum collector gaskets. Again, make sure the collector flanges are straight.
