crane 10308 springs seat pressure and supplied shims Q
I am running the crane 10308 springs with a cc306. The guys at Racenet said that the shims supplied with the spring kit would be sufficient. It came with 1 shim per spring. Since they told me that the supplied shims would be fine, I never checked the seat pressure.
A few weeks ago I had my car dynoed, and the dude running it said he thought it felt like valves were floating. At the time, I knew the rockers were loose, so I thought that was the problem. Today my buddy called me up and mentioned the seat pressure possibly being wrong.
Has anyone on the board used just the shims supplied with the 10308 kit, and then checked to see if the seat pressure was correct?
Thanks,
Zack

Some (like Crane) say that those wimpy .015" shims are good for seats, but many question that logic. I used some Comp seats (.060) instead and used those Crane shims as shims where needed when I set everything up according to installed height specs.
I think it would be wise to check the installed height on any replacement spring job. You need one of those barrel mics to get it accurately set up.
