crank hub vibration ?'s

i recently noticed that the crank hub woblles a little on idle. Im assuming that this is causing the high rpm vibration. well ive searched and read that this could have damaged of could be because of a damaged crank.

My car probobly has been like that for a while, ive only had it for 4-5k miles, so if it has been vibrating for about 10k miles then what kind of damage am i looking at.

is it bad to continue driving it like this, i cant replace the hub for a while so i will have to

is there any special tools needed to swap them out.

and i remember reading that there is a possibility of a rubber ring being worn out, is it possible to just replace the ring if that is the problem?

And one off topic question, my ac only blows out of the defroster regardless of what setting it is at, what broke, price, and is it hard to replace??

thanks much!

Re: crank hub vibration ?'s

You need to determine if it is the pulley or the hub that wobbles.

Solution for your air problem.

Re: crank hub vibration ?'s

wow didnt know vacum had to do with that, well i brok a tiny connector right before it happened so im sure that should be the problem with the vents.

as for the hub/pully, the part that has the belt(pully?) is vibrating, how would i know if its just its fault or fault of the hub?

thanks much!

Re: crank hub vibration ?'s

You will have to take it off and check it out. You could also observe movement of the hub with the pulley removed.

Re: crank hub vibration ?'s

i dont know if i can do that any time soon...

all i would have to do is remove tension from belt and take off the three bolts right?

what about the damage thing, is the crank bearings killed by now, or would everything be ok still.

if i could get a video of it running with the vibration(hub and pully still on) would you be able to tell what the problem is?

Edit; and looking at your diagrams i guess i broke the vacum check valve...

Re: crank hub vibration ?'s

Yes, you remove the belt and three bolts for the pulley. It may or may not come off without some persuasion or use of a puller.

A video is not going to help, as you still won't be able to tell if it is the pulley or the hub (or even a bent crank snout).

Damage is unknown.
