Crank shaft hub removal help

I've removed the flywheel, & damper...now trying to get the 3-eared crank hub off using a puller. after threading the bolts through the hub and pulling, the whole crank shaft turns, thus, i can't loosen hub and remove it from the shaft. do i need to put the flywheel back on and hold that side to prevent rotation while i use the puller on the front end? or would heating the hub loosen it enough to pull it off using the puller without bolting the flywheel back up and adding friction?

Stick something through the spokes of your puller to wedge it. Make sure what you wedge against is substantial.

Also make sure you use something in the crank bolt hole to push against (tons of threads about this).

Thread a slightly longer 5/8-20 bolt into the crank. Use it to leverage against with your puller.

If the crank still wants to turn, use a prybar or handle from a floorjack wedged between the puller bolts and the framerail.

^ This is how to remove the damper, not the hub. To remove the hub you need a steering wheel puller or something similar. The puller bolts to the hub with the 3 bolts, i dont recommend using the actual hub bolts but something similar. Then use a longer bolt or an extension put through the middle of the hub so it has something to pull against.

After making a few modifications suggested by shoebox, I created a writeup for this here:
