CSR water pump problems
Anyone running a CSR water pump or any pump with a aluminum impeller should check them ASAP. I would like to point out this pump has worked pefectly the last 2 years with about 8,000 miles and always kept the car cool, it didn't slowly start giving me problems. With no warning at all my guage was pegged past 250 sitting at a stop light, keed it mind I'm the parinoid type always watching my guages. I pulled over and shut the motor off and left the fan a pump running while I inspected the car for a problem. I couldn't find any problems, fan and pump were running, no leaks, and the radiator didn't feel too hot. I jumped back in the car and the guage said 200. I wrote it off as a guage problem at the time, but I'm thinking the water pump wasn't moving any water.
The next day my car started running badly, smoking, and leaking oil, alot of oil. While I was trying to figure out the problem with the car running in the garage I noticed the gauge reading 210 with the radiator ice cold. So I pulled the pump to find lots of corrosion on the impeller.
Do you guys think these are worn enough to not move any water? I can't beleave it looks like that after less than 2 years, and thats with antifreeze I can only imagine if I was running straight water. If it's not the pump I guess it could have been the themostat? Either way I think I'm now the proud owner of a LT1 with two poped head gaskets!

I put the link in because I don't know how to post pics here. I didn't know you had to be a member there to see the pics.

Call them and talk to them about your problem.
I called and spoke with the guy who fixes/refurbs the pumps when I had a problem with mine. He told me it was an easy fix and to send it in. He gave me a return #, so I sent it over.
About a week later a brand new waterpump showed up at my door.
He never even asked for a receipt to prove that I was in my warranty period.
I received the BEST customer service from them that I have ever received from any
company that I have bought a part from.
Although you are not under warranty anymore, they might want to hear about this.

Go to www.tinypic.com
Upload the pictures you want and then when you post a reply, just click on the 2nd box from the right that looks like a small picture. If you move your mouse over it it will say "Insert Picture". Then just put the link you got from tinypic in the box and they will be show up in the thread.

NO an LT1 should be glad... get to push around about 700 lb less than a F-body.
I had the same problem once. Called CSR and they said to make sure the ground was to the same ground as the battery. He said for some reason F-bodys have the pumps just quit and that is the solution.
I ended up buying another one and have had no problems... I should rebuild that old one that works fine now.
