Custom Y-pipe, $125-$150

This is what the best exhaust shop in town quoted me for an installed 3" Y-pipe for my Jet-hot LT's. Does this sound like a good price or not? Is there anywhere cheaper online I can get one that I wouldn't have to modify to put in?

know anybody with a welder and circular saw?
I bought two mandrel bent U-bends from JEGS for $20 a piece and my buddy had an old y-pipe off of a third gen, we used the collector and flanges off of it and made our own. It only cost $40 and some beer money.

Nah, i'm willing to let someone put it on. After a LT install, I kinda wanna take a break from beeing under my car if ya know what I mean. Does this sound decent for a custom Y-pipe?

I'm pretty sure, either that or welded. There will be no wrinkles in my exhaust...I wouldn't pay that much for that....

ok well that's good, as long as there aren't any kinks in it or wrinkles. I don't think that price is all that bad really, for being mandrel bent. It might take them a little bit to fab up, so the labor might be what is making the cost high.

mandrel just means there are no wrinkles in the metal, the bends are smooth. They still have to weld it together with the welder.

NEW SET OF QUESTIONS! They said it wouldn't be mandrel bent, but it would be 3 inches. Which is better, 3 inch non mandrel bent, or the 2.5 inch mandrel bent you get with the basic hooker y-pipe you get offline (roughly the same price)?
Also, I need my car for this weekend, I don't have my O2's plugged in because I don't want to foul my plugs. If I got 2 turn downs, could I plug my O2's in and run normal?

The hooker is 2 3/4 mandrel bent. I would rather get a hooker one so you know it will fit perfect. I just ordered mine

the local shop here charges $90 for a y. that is bolted to the collector, and welded to the I-pipe. you wont notice anything from the mandrel bend except less money left over. and if they do it there will be no problems with fitment that you sometimes have with mail order stuff.

c0rey-i am still working on the pics, the camera went south on me. hopefully tonight.

The hooker is 3" mandrel bent. I have one, and have measured it several times.
