Damn LT1 wont start
I have a 1995 trans am with a newly built 355 ci LT1. Its a stock headed motor with a .520/.540 236/242 110 cam. full bolt on car. anyways my problem is that the car will not start. It turns over and hits a few times but never will start up. I've checked fuel pressure and its right at 40 psi at turn key and I have spark. If anyone can help out or has had the same problem please let me know what you did to fix it.

I know the opti is on right because I've had it on and off about 4 different times and it does the same thing every time... this all started after it just quit on the interstate one night. I thought hell I'll just rebuild the motor and had that done and its done this ever since. the plugs aren't fouled I know for a fact I've checked that already. The valves should hopefully be right I got the motor back and it was put together from the oil pan to the intake, and all the valves were adjusted and it was put in time.

Only takes a check of the basics........
Opti is installed wrong. Scan it for codes for starters. If you don't find any, start doing the obvious. Spark fuel and compression. If you think you have spark, then squirt fuel in the intake while someone cranks it over. If it doesn't start then, and you KNOW you have spark and compression, then it has to be the spark is occurring at the wrong time. The key of course is that spark and compression have been ruled out.
So then you are back to the opti. When you put the opti on it should be checked for timing. To do this, simply put a plug at TDC and check to be sure the rotor is facing the position of that cylinders contact inside the cap. For example, if you put #1 at TDC, the rotor should be facing between the 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock position.
Just FYI, if you loose 3 cylinders, it will not start.
